Well, since the year of 2003 he has been banned from the sidelines and games because of liberal controversy over his very Southern image which some say is a slap in the face to the black community. The most ridiculous thing is, in that year a vote was held to get a feel of how the students felt about keeping good ole Colonel Reb and 94 percent of the student body voted to keep him on the field. A great number of the students at Ole Miss were black.

Now going back to the history of Ole Miss the Confederate ties are outstanding. When the Civil War broke out classes were completely interrupted when the entire student body enlisted with the Confederate Army. The university also had its own infantry unit which was Company A 11th Mississippi and was nicknamed the University Grays. The school also held a hospital in the university buildings for Confederate and Union troops alike.

I would say it’s safe to say that Ole Miss is the most “Confederate” university in the country. So I ask this; if you are going to take away Colonel Reb then why not just burn down the entire university? Sounds silly doesn’t it? Well, it is. It is silly and appalling to even think about taking such a perfectly representative figure from Ole Miss simply because a few nut jobs want to wage a race war over the meaning. Tradition is at the root of every university. You take it away you might as well change the name from Ole Miss to “The Mississippi Institute of Higher Learning.” Watch school spirit fly right out the door and watch your alumni drop.

This just goes to show how democracy is on the back burner in this country. If you have a television network and an opinion you can bet you have more power than the people. The majority of the student body wants to see Colonel Reb at the games and on the football field. Good thing is, people in Mississippi are hard-headed and are outspoken about it. They won’t go down without a fight. If they want the Reb there they will make their own suits and go to the games. They will wear the Confederate flag on their shirts and they will show their support.

As a matter of fact there is a group doing just that. They are called the Colonel Reb Foundation. They are wearing Colonel Reb suits to the games and going all over getting the message across. This shows how steadfast the good people of the state of Mississippi are. They roll up their sleeves and get things done. This could stand as a testament for the rest of America. When things aren’t being handled right you take matters back into your own hands and fix them. That is how our forefathers did it and that is what was in mind when the the Southern states seceded from the union 150 years ago.

I, for all practical purposes am against this. When I travel to a European country I want to see and experience the people and culture of that country. I don’t want to go to Ireland only to see it overrun by Brits. I don’t want to go to Italy and see it overrun with Spaniards etc. I want to go to Ireland and see Irish people and experience Irish culture. Now, Dublin is primarily taken over by everything but Celtic folk. What they’re trying to do is make Europe one big country taking away individual customs of the so-called “states.”

This poses economic and political problems as well. It puts more power into the hands of a few. It creates an empire that eventually leads to tyranny of its people. It sets a standard for the rest of the world. Not a good one but a standard that will become a trend in our world. The United States is already heading in that direction. Past and current presidential administrations have already started talk and preparation for the future North American Union in which the US, Canada, and Mexico will share the same currency and open borders. Talk of this plan has also consisted of hope for regional integration of Mexicans to America, Americans to Mexico, Americans to Canada, Canadians to Mexico etc. etc. etc.

What ever happened to pride in one’s country and culture? Not to mention that the liberty of the people of all of these countries is at stake when you put more power into the hands of a few. You see, what will happen is there will be several continental unions that will soon thereafter become the New World Order in which the power will be placed into the hands of a minute group of elites with the most money and will look out for only their own interest with little or no regard for the people.

Wake up America! Wake up Ireland, England, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and all of Europe! Sovereignty for each of you is the key to preventing tyranny. I love the fact that as of now I can own property, I can believe the way that I wish to believe, and government, at least for now is small enough so that I can question my leadership. Up until recently America has had it right. Let’s go back to the Constitution now! This imperialism that’s sweeping the world will not only take away every privilege we have ever known, but it will rip our culture from our countries and the pride that we have always had in them away from us.

An 18 year old former Yankee boy named Dan A. Azeff, originally from Philadelphia moved to southwest Florida with his family that had been present in the area for around eleven years. One night he and some friends decide to go to the local movie theater. On this particular night Michael J. Mitchell, a student at the Sarasota Military Academy who had excelled in football, never showed a violent past, and had always been a good student opened fire on Dan Azeff. You see Dan was waving a 3 by 5 foot Confederate flag and wearing a Confederate flag hat. Michael J. Mitchell, a black student attending the theater started to question Dan asking if he was a racist. Dan replied, “no, I’m exercising free speech.” After a few words, infuriated Michael pulls the trigger and shoots Dan Azeff simply because he was carrying a Confederate flag and wearing a Confederate flag t-shirt.

Now, to mainstream media and audience there would be no thought of young black student Michael committing a hate crime. Let’s tell the same story but reverse the situation:

Now THAT would definitely fit as a hate crime. Sad thing is, the shooter in the real situation did not get charged with a hate crime. He just got charged with opening fire on another person.

Hate crime laws were created with fairness and equality in mind. They were designed to protect people from being beaten or murdered solely because of race, creed, nationality, culture, religion, and political beliefs. That was not the case for Dan Azeff who was flying the Confederate flag.

Why are we so adamant to come down on only a certain group of people while we allow another group to blatantly break these laws? Because it’s not politically correct to come down on blacks or minorities they get special privileges? I want to reiterate that any time someone is hurt because of race, creed, nationality, culture, religion, political beliefs etc. it is wrong and should be treated as such. Not only when it’s conveniently politically correct.
